Christa Gail Pike is a convicted American murderer on death row in Tennessee. In 1995, when she was 18, Pike and her boyfriend lured their 19-year-old classmate Colleen Slemmer into a wooded area in Knoxville where they tortured and killed her. Slemmer was beaten, slashed, and had a pentagram carved in her chest before Pike killed her by crushing her skull. Pike was arrested within two days and sentenced to death in 1996 at the age of 20, making her one of the youngest women to receive a death sentence in the United States during the post-Furman period.

What Christa Pike said, word for word, with the article each quote appeared in.
I don’t know why I survived that night. I don’t know what comes next. Some days, finding hope is harder than others. For now, I am trying to heal, one day at a time. And I am holding on to the love and kindness of so many people who have reminded me that I am not alone
My body hurts. My arms hurt. My hands hurt. My throat hurts. I still struggle to speak. And the pain isn’t just physical. There is pain in my mind and in my soul
I am recovering and know that I am getting stronger. But healing does not mean that I am okay
Since that night, I haven’t had a single moment without pain. My body, arms, hands and throat all hurt, and I continue to struggle to speak. The suffering, however, goes beyond the physical. It also affects my mind and soul
There hasn't been a moment since that night when I haven't been in pain
